Facilitating Access to Affordable Proteins
As a producer of animal protein, we recognize that feeding Indonesia now and in the future requires an approach to producing a sustainable supply of safe and nutritious protein.
Indonesia is an archipelago comprising over 17,000 islands and a population of more than 278 million people.1 The population is expected to grow in the coming years, making food security a critical priority. Although Indonesia has made significant progress toward SDG 2: Zero Hunger, many challenges remain.
One of the biggest threats to food security is limited access to food. TMultifaceted factors influence this threat, but it is emphasised even more by Indonesia's large population and geographical characteristics. For years, Japfa has been a major player in Indonesia’s animal protein industry, and we have grown to become one of the country’s biggest agri-food companies. Our success is primarily due to our extensive geographical reach which spans across the nation.
Japfa’s wide geographic reach has had a significant impact on Indonesian society, our products— from feed to food—are available through various channels, from traditional and modern markets to online platforms.
We employ an industrialised approach to farming, as well as utilising technology and innovation within our vertically integrated business model.
Through this approach, we can produce on a larger scale to feed Indonesia’s growing population in the coming years. This approach also reaffirms our commitment to providing high-quality protein, as an industrialised approach ensures that we produce safely based on controlled and standardised processes.
