SAIL STP Programm and Kampus Merdeka, Synergy to Advance Education
(STP, Kemendibudristek and KKP release SAIL Shrimp Farm Technician Participant)

Jakarta, August 26th 2021 - Today, PT Suri Tani Pemuka (STP), a subsidiary of JAPFA, released selected students to carry out internship programs at 40 company operational locations in various regions in Indonesia. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek RI), STP collaborates to improve the quality of higher education graduates through the Synergized Aquaculture Innovative Learning (SAIL) program and the Kampus Merdeka. Collaboration in this program facilitates students to be able to do field work practices in the company's work environment to learn directly with experts in the company as mentors.

The virtual release event was also attended by Dr. TB. Haeru Rahayu, A.Pi., M.Sc., Director General of Aquaculture, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Aris Junaidi, Ph.D., Director of Learning and Student Affairs at the Ministry of Education, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Maftuch, M. Si., Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Universitas Brawijaya, and Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc. PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries, Diponegoro University.

Kampus Merdeka itself is a program initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, a comprehensive career readiness program to prepare the best generation of Indonesia, where students can learn specific, practical and needed competencies in the future. In this Kampus Merdeka program, STP acts as one of the government's partners by offering SAIL which is a certified independent study program to improve the skills and agility of Shrimp Farm Technician candidates.

In his speech representing the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. TB. Haeru Rahayu, A.Pi, M.Sc., Director General of Aquaculture, KKP RI, said, "KKP RI has 3 breakthrough programs where in the aquaculture development program to increase exports supported by marine and fishery research, we make shrimp farming the backbone of the economy. Indonesia. This shrimp farming program can be successful if it is supported by adequate and competent human resources. Our appreciation goes to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and PT Suri Tani Pemuka for initiating this program.”

On the same occasion, Ardi Budiono, President Director of STP said, "We welcome the opportunity given to synergize, especially to bridge the problems between the industrial and academic worlds, where it is increasingly difficult for companies to find graduates who are ready to adapt and compete in line with the development of the Aquaculture business. We hope that in the future we can move with the younger generation to advance the world of Indonesian aquaculture.”

The SAIL – Shrimp Farm Technician STP program will be implemented for 5 months, starting in September 2021 – January 2022. There are 68 apprentices selected from a total of 766 applicants, who will be accompanied intensively by 44 professional mentors, both during training classes, as well as direct field work practices. In this program, participants will be introduced to the shrimp farming industry/vannamei shrimp cultivation which is a leading commodity from the marine and fisheries sector. Then they will be asked to provide innovative ideas to increase the productivity of the vannamei shrimp culture.

The SAIL program is also in line with corporate values, purposeful and responsible, where the company always considers providing added value to stakeholders to advance government programs and is responsible for advancing the aquaculture industry through future leaders.
