13 January 2020

Banyuwangi, January 13th, 2020 - After successfully increasing export value by 53% in 2019, PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk (JAPFA) through its subsidiaries, PT Suri Tani Pemuka (STP) and PT Iroha Sidat Indonesia (ISI), began 2020 by releasing export products of aquaculture. The export release of fishery aquaculture products worth more than 13 billion Rupiahs, consisted of processed eel products, fillet products, tilapia fish loin, processed tilapia fish products, and shrimp feed to Japan, America, the Philippines and Timor Leste. The product was released by the Director General of Maritime and Fisheries for Product Competitiveness Improvement, the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, and the Banyuwangi Regent at the PT Iroha Sidat Indonesia Eel Processing Plant, Banyuwangi.

Ardi Budiono, JAPFA Group's Head of Aquaculture Division (STP) said, "The release of this export is a form of JAPFA's consistency in supporting exports in various commodities, which earlier this year JAPFA started again by exporting fishery aquaculture products. This is inseparable from JAPFA's efforts in supporting the government to increase the country's foreign exchange."

Until now, JAPFA's various fishery processed products have been marketed to 14 countries in the continents of America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Recorded throughout 2019, JAPFA's Aquaculture Division was able to contribute exports worth 438 billion Rupiahs.

This achievement is supported by quality standards and aquaculture products that are continuously maintained by JAPFA. "In every production chain, we ensure quality from the start of the selection of raw materials and strict supervision and through a responsible and sustainable production process," said Ardi. "For example, we use environmentally friendly floating fish feed in our tilapia cultivation in Lake Toba. The feeding process is also carried out using a broadcaster feed for the right dose. As for eel products, we also run restocking where eels are cultivated, some of the results will be returned to nature,” he explained.

The release of exports in early 2020 was carried out simultaneously in three JAPFA business units (Banyuwangi, Cirebon, Medan), with the center of event in Banyuwangi. Afterwards, the series of activities continued with a visit to ISI eel farm location in Blimbingsari, where the visitors could see firsthand the process of good management of eel cultivation implemented by JAPFA, as well as the eel harvesting process.

JAPFA will continue to make efforts to improve quality and services to open up opportunities to enter the wider international market to support the Indonesian Government's program of Indonesian Fisheries export targets.
