Strengthening Food Security, JAPFA Inaugurates Egg Production Facility and Launches JAPFA for Kids in Bintan

PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk (JAPFA) inaugurated its new pullet and layer chicken housing facilities May 15th, 2025 in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands Province, with a total laying hen capacity of 516,000 birds. Built on a 7.6-hectare site, the facility comprises 12 housing units capable of producing up to 360,000 eggs per day. This inauguration marks the company’s commitment to strengthening national food security, particularly by providing affordable and nutritious animal protein in the form of eggs.

As part of its ongoing commitment, JAPFA is also implementing its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, JAPFA for Kids, in this new operational area. The program aims to improve the nutritional status of elementary school children by providing education on balanced nutrition and distributing eggs to students identified as undernourished. The program will target several elementary schools in Bintan Regency, offering three months of assistance and monthly monitoring of students’ nutritional progress.

“The inauguration of this layer facility is the first step toward achieving our 2026 target of 1,000,000 laying hens and 750,000 eggs produced per day. This reflects our concrete commitment to enhancing food security in Bintan while also contributing to the social development of the surrounding community. Through the JAPFA for Kids program, we aim to instill healthier eating habits and improve children's quality of life,” said Anwar Tandiono, Head of Feed Operations at JAPFA, during the event.

The Bintan Regency Government welcomed JAPFA’s initiative, recognizing its significant contribution to strengthening food security and stimulating regional economic growth. The Governor of Riau Islands Province, H. Ansar Ahmad, SE., MM, expressed his appreciation for JAPFA’s plans, which not only support food security but also have a direct impact on economic improvement through job creation and community empowerment.

“At the same time, the CSR program focused on improving children's nutrition aligns closely with our regional development priorities to cultivate a healthier and smarter future generation,” he stated. Through the synergy of increased food production capacity and sustainable social contributions, JAPFA aims to play an active role in enhancing community welfare and building a healthier and more empowered future.
