JAPFA Successfully Exports Hatching Egg to Brunei, Aiming for 130 Thousand Items in October
Jakarta, 05 October 2023 – PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk (JAPFA) has achieved a significant milestone by entering the Brunei market, successfully shipping 45 thousand broiler chicken hatching eggs on Wednesday, October 4. The company projects total exports this month to exceed 130 thousand eggs, organized into three delivery stages. These fertile hatching eggs will be incubated in the destination country.
Harwanto, JAPFA Director said, "This hatching egg delivery to Brunei is not our first venture into international markets, as we have previously exported to Myanmar. It reaffirms the superior quality and demand for our poultry products globally. Our exports also align with our commitment to supporting the government and the Indonesian poultry industry in maintaining a balanced domestic broiler chicken population."
Over the last two years, the domestic broiler chicken population in Indonesia has grown, accompanied by an increase in public consumption of chicken meat. Despite this, consumption figures remain relatively lower compared to the surplus in chicken availability each year. The government has implemented various measures to regulate the broiler chicken supply, including the control of Day Old Chick Final Stock (DOC FS) production through hatching egg management and early discarding of Parent Stock (PS), including hatching egg exports to other countries.
Dr. Ir. Nasrullah, M.Sc, Director General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (Dirjen PKH), Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that exports should prioritize domestic needs, aligning with the president's directive. Excessive commodity production should be channelled towards capturing export opportunities.
According to BPS – Statistic Indonesia, export performance of livestock and animal health commodities in from January to July 2023 reached USD 790.7 million (equivalent to IDR 11.4 trillion), reflecting a 9.26% increase in export value and a 17.28% growth in export volume compared to the same period in 2022.

Our next destination is Malaysia, and we are optimistic about the success of government-to-government negotiations, ensuring the sustainability of this collaboration in the future."
