At the end of May, PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk (JAPFA), through its downstream business JAPFA Food, introduced its latest brand, Olagud. Olagud offers a variety of products, ranging from fresh probiotic chicken to ready-to-eat probiotic chicken dishes. Probiotic chicken is known to contain less fat and higher protein compared to regular chicken.

Probiotic chicken refers to broiler chickens that are fed with Lactobacillus bacteria or other microorganisms to aid in nutrient absorption and maximize nutrition. Therefore, chickens that are given probiotic feed get maximum nutrition. Apart from that, it also helps the growth and development of chickens so that they are not easily attacked by disease.

Prof. Dr. Drg. Sandra Fikawati, MPH, a public health nutritionist and professor at FKM UI, revealed the importance of consuming animal protein. “Humans need at least 20 types of amino acids or compounds that combine to form proteins. 9 of them are essential amino acids that must be obtained from food. "Even though humans can get protein from plant protein, animal protein contains more complete essential amino acids."

Olagud chickens are cultivated using modern farming methods which are equipped with biosecurity and other supporting facilities to ensure the health and welfare of the chickens. Cultivated with strict quality control, Olagud chicken successfully entered the Singapore market in mid-2023.
