JAPFA Collaborates with Banks to Provide KUR Facilities to Improve Partners Farmers Capacity
Malang, 1 September 2020 – Today, PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk through its subsidiary, PT Santosa Agrindo (Santori), together with Bank Central Asia (BCA), Bank Perkreditan Rakyat Karya Perdana Sejahtera (BPR KPS) and partner breeders signed the distribution of People's Business Credit (KUR) particularly in the productive sector for Micro and Medium Enterprises (UMKN) cattle breeders in Bumi Kemitraan PT Santosa Agrindo (Santori), located in Gunung Kawi, Malang.
Safuan Kasno Soewondo, Head of Cattle Fattening Santori said, "This collaboration with banks is being carried out by JAPFA to increase the national population and cattle products. Where indirectly this also has an impact on the empowerment of local breeders and an increase in the regional economy".
By signing the cooperation agreement, BCA will hand over KUR with a total of Rp. 6.8 billion through BPR KPS as Santori's partner. In the initial stage, there will be 12 partner breeders who will be given a KUR loan facility with an interest rate of 6% per year to buy 4 months old Santori calves, with an average weight of 140-150 kg / head.
Unlike the previous Partnership program, this time Santori provides assistance and cage facilities at Bumi Kemitraan Santori, located in Gunung Kawi, Malang. Standing on 1.7 hectares area, this facility is dedicated to be a fattening area for partner breeders. After 8 months of fattening process, the cows will be bought back by Santori or other parties. In the first phase, there will be 100 F1 Nelore cows for this Partnership program, with a total target of 400 cows.
"With the assistance and supervision of the Santori team, hopefully the cows can be raised according to applicable standards, and can be controlled when feeding and using other equipment. Therefore the quality of the cattle will be guaranteed, which in turn will make the selling price of the cow higher. In addition, at the Bumi Kemitraan Santori, we also educate partner breeders about how to raise cattle properly. We hope this program can empower and improve the quality of local breeders," explained Safuan.
This Santori Cattle Partnership System can also minimize the risk of farmers having difficulty selling back their cows and the death of cows that can occur suddenly. Because in principle, the Partnership program was designed by JAPFA to help breeders ‘Growing Towards Mutual Prosperity’.
